Changing the default number of players who can connect to a server
Is there a way to change the default number of players that connect to a server? It currently default to 16. I'd like to change it to a value that better accommodates my, ahem, rather modest upload speeds.
Thought i would start here before i post something over at BMS.

I think that's coded into RakNet. I will send a PM off to one of the BMS dudes.
I don't think changing anything if it was possible on our end would solve any issues with your PORKED internet.
The only thing I think could be accomplished is with the BW setting in the Comms window.
I flew a few times with Khronik and as we all know he is a TECHNO WIZARD. He suggest that we each set 256 BW on our end and that the Server set what ever the end result of the amount of clients is times 256, ie, 4 flyers 1024 BW for server.
Of course we could also experiment and try 128 that way the server would only have to set 512 which in your sorry asses case(ROTFLMAO) that might work better. But then again I have never messed around and tried 128 but we should know pretty quick if it would work or not. Of course it might take a few flight to really know but that wouldn't take long.
Just an FYI, an actual voice communications transmission only requires 4 Khz in an FM signal for it to be clear, any less then that, the transmission would become broke up and un-understandable or barely understandable depending on the signal strength in the atmosphere.

Re: Changing the default number of players who can connect to a server
Yeah, i'm aware it's not going to help my "porked" internet! What will help my porked internet is that i'm getting a new service in the couple of weeks with a whole 2mbps upload! Slow down speed racer!!
The problem i had last time when i was hosting a flight for voodoo and myself was that i forgot to change the maximum number of players. After we took off, both you and Spaz connected, which exceeded my bandwidth and the world came crashing down. I just can't remember to change the damned number of max players to prevent this sort of thing from happening. "Stupid is as stupid does..."

Re: Changing the default number of players who can connect to a server
I would like to try hosting one myself just for testing purposes.
I have opened the required ports and I have a static IP address.
Would be nice to know what my upload can handle.
If I'm not too tired after work I'm up for some testing. I'll be at home in about 3 hours.

I'm hoping to be on for some flights. I'll likely be on around 9pm (-5 GMT).

WTH, I made a fool of myself as I PM'd Boxer and forgot that you can change it in the second Comms page.
WHY didn't you remind me about that, he prolly thinks I'm freaking crazy now, haha?? DAMN, LOL

LOL!! Didn't think i had to. It's easy enough to clarify that the question is "is it possible to change the default value?". Hehe...
