Still have absolutely no idea how I created that side bar and haven't figures out how to get rid of it.

All those folders on your desktop aren't going to help your performance (affects your page file if i'm not mistaken). Should have links to folders on your desktop dude...

That bar on the side is also likely to be giving you a hit. Looks like some sort of "recent files" app. It was probably downloaded and installed while you were browsing for all your pron!!
