PvP

Post by Harlequin on 2012-05-31, 1:14 pm

With Bad Boy's PvP5 just around the corner (whenever we can finish pounding the shit out of the blues in PvP4), i'm interested to know who is interested in participating. We've had rather limited participation on the current round. Each squad will have to provide a better estimate as to how many pilots will be flying and when they will do most of their flying. It's currently all screwed up and the european guys are all on the blue side and the north american guys are all on the red side. We're all flying at different times and is not fulfilling the promise that was PvP.

Everyone is welcome to join up with us at the 420th. We would like to have a little sim time together with guys who are interested just so we can get an idea of peoples skill levels, strengths, annoying habits (LOL!! j/k)... etc.

So, who's interested?

I'm flying about the same time as you. Maybe a few hours earlier (hint hint) Smile

Although the summer is coming so that might limit my flying time a bit and my vacation is just around the corner. Amsterdam here I come.

But the PVP has been the most exciting for me since I discovered BMS

I hear you. When it's good, PvP is the best. The issue i'm having is that it is boring as hell when there is no opposition in the air. When we're flying, there is maybe 1 or 2 blue guys on on a good night... but it's usually none. In the next round, i see us going up against the Dogs of War. So they'll be 4 to 10 pilots to our 1 to 2. PvP needs WAY more people online for it to work. As it is now with zero AI in the air, it's become rather ho-hum. Sad

You're gonna be STONED all to hell!!!!!

And Yes Steve, BB screwed up the PvP by taking out the AI flights.

Seriously, these guys need to think things through. Sorry but they don't know what the heck they're doing with campaign files!! Neutral

Scratch that... apparently Bad Boy's PvP5 is not just around the corner (he doesn't have time and he's waiting for the next release of BMS anyway... next update, next version? who knows).

It's fricken expensive too! He's paying $200 for may just in overages. Server used more than 800GB in may. Yikes!

For sure, but rather stoned to heaven than hell LOL

Maybe in the meantime we set up our own event and try to get as many guys from the group as possible to get online at the same time?

Agreed... i'd like to do some campaign work. We can keep a campaign file on the TS3 file browser as we've talked about before. Time for a new poll?? Smile

No poll needed, I think we should run our own campaign. We can use something existing or I can whip something up.

What about Israel?? Whatcha' think?

Yeah man... let's give israel a good run. I haven't gotten out of day 2 yet. Played a bit of Tyox's campaign a couple of weeks ago, which was at day 8 or so. We started wondering if it was even possible to win. Didn't look like it...

Anyway, yeah, i'm in.

I was just talking to tyox about his campaign, I think he said it was on day six. Anyways he said it was running really smooth, I'll check the trigger file to see if they just did a Timeout for the campaign to end as a draw or if there are actually trigger events that would allow one to win the war.

I should have clarified... it was the stock IT-BMS campaign... not yours. Smile

Ok, the trigger file specifies that the following objective ALL have to be captured for blue to win in the save0 or the middle campaign:

OBJ ID 1475 Damasqus = Junction
OBJ ID 1483 Bab Sharqi = City
OBJ ID 1486 Al Amin = Junction

This is no good. Junctions should not be set as capture points. Only cities and towns as there are no links to the junctions in the files so you can never win the campaign.

Damasqus and Al Amin have one city objective and a couple junctions that make up the urban area. I will have to re-assign the trigger file to denote that the city objective for those to city's be captured as a condition for a win.

Also, as far as I'm concerned, three objectives required to win is too much. I'll reduce it to 2, Damasqus and one of the other two.
